From May 21 to 29, the Bordeaux International Fair takes its visitors on an incredible journey through time with the exhibition event “The Treasure of Tutankhamun”.
More than 3,300 years after his reign, Tutankhamun continues to be talked about. His pharaonic treasure never looted, the Indiana Jones discovery of his tomb and his tragic destiny made this child-king who died before 20 years old a pharaoh-superstar. Exactly 100 years after its discovery, the exhibition “The Treasure of Tutankhamun” goes back down to its tomb to share with as many people as possible an exceptional collection rich in more than 1,000 pieces, replicas that bear witness to the reign of one of the pharaohs. the most significant.
A date with the most immortal of pharaohs
Egypt will accompany the visitor step by step with astonishing, cultural, educational, fun stops and relaxing breaks with flavors from elsewhere…: archaeological excavation, mummification or hieroglyphic writing workshops, oriental dances and music… and in high point on May 25, a pharaonic fireworks display for the night.
Start dreaming and prepare for immersion! “The TREASURE OF TUTANKHAMUN” is revealed! Six years of work were necessary to prepare and perfect this exhibition. The 1,000 staged replicas perfectly represent the masterpieces of the painters, goldsmiths, engravers, scribes and other cabinetmakers responsible for fitting out and decorating the last resting place of the young pharaoh. Executed by the artists and workers of the Cairo workshops under the direction of Drs Atef Abdel Shafi and Ibrahim El Gawad, curator at the Cairo Museum, all are made in scale 1 with the same exterior materials and the same details as the originals, including their deterioration.
Tutankhamun’s mummy, which rests forever in tomb No. KV62 in the Valley of the Kings, is obviously absent, but its collection is breathtaking. From the mythical golden mask to the toys of his childhood, passing through his ceremonial chariots, his funeral beds or his travel kit in the afterlife, “The Treasure of Tutankhamun” is a unique opportunity to admire this jewel. world heritage rarely presented outside Egypt.
