Ciao Roma! WestJet takes off for the Eternal City

WestJet’s new service to and from Rome complements the airline’s increased investments in the transatlantic connectivity of thealberta and offers toalberta a 43% increase in WestJet service toEuropecompared to 2019. With five European destinations to explore, Western Canadians and Northwestern Americans can now easily connect to Rometo Paristo Dublin and to London-Heathrow and Gatwick from WestJet’s convenient hub at Calgary. This new link will further accelerate the resumption of travel and tourism in Canadaas overseas visitors will enjoy a convenient non-stop flight to experience the vibrancy of what thealberta and the Canada have to offer.

WestJet’s service to Rome will be offered during high season up to three times a week. The flight was originally scheduled to launch in May 2020, but was postponed due to the pandemic.

WestJet Cargo is increasing its offerings between Canada and Italy

In conjunction with WestJet’s commercial department between Calgary and RomeWestJet Cargo will offer a weekly cargo capacity of approximately 120 tons directly between Calgary and Rome on the airline’s 787 Dreamliner. WestJet Cargo’s shipments will increase capacity for a diverse array of products, including luxury fashion, pharmaceuticals and e-commerce. Prior to flight launch, in 2021 alone, WestJet Cargo facilitated the delivery of over 60,000 tonnes of cargo to and from Italy to destinations across the Canada and in the United States.
