Dubai, Istanbul, Cancun… 10 exotic destinations for February holidays with falling prices

Fly to the Caribbean, the United States or the United Arab Emirates: for the February holidays, the French feel the need to get away for good more than ever. This is what a study by the travel comparator Liligo reveals: of the 10 most searched destinations on the site for these winter holidays, 8 of them are located more than 5,000 kilometers from France. All at prices well below those of 2020 over the same period, just before the Covid-19 epidemic restricted travel options.

At the top of the ranking, we find the favorite city of many influencers and reality TV stars, Dubai. “This destination has become very popular during the pandemic, explains the general manager of Liligo Guillaume Rostand and it remains more accessible than others.” Over the period, the travel comparator indicates that you will find round-trip plane tickets around 431 euros on average, i.e. 9% cheaper than in 2020. And Capital has even spotted flights departing from Paris at less from 300 euros*… So there is still time to plan your holidays in the sun.

New York occupies second place on the podium, with prices down 12% compared to 2020 and an average price of 356 euros for the round trip over the winter holiday period. Again, Capital has spotted even better prices. For less than 300 euros round trip, you can already imagine strolling through the heart of Central Park, even if you choose last-minute tickets. Thus, vacationers in zone B, the first on vacation, will be able to leave from February 5 to 12 for only 293 euros.

For more modest budgets, an even more accessible destination completes the podium: Istanbul. The largest city in Turkey is only 3h30 from Paris, for an average of 193 euros round trip according to Liligo. But it would seem that the airlines have lowered the price of their last minute flights, since tickets are still available at less than 120 euros over the winter holiday period. Do not delay to take advantage of it.

Another idea for a lower-cost vacation: fly to Lisbon, which occupies 7th place in the ranking. With ticket prices down 38% from 2020, now is a good time to indulge. Count an average of 71 euros for a round trip to the capital of Portugal.

If you are more tempted by overseas territories, you are not alone. Pointe-à-Pitre, Saint-Denis de la Réunion and Fort-de-France respectively occupy 4th, 5th and 8th place in the ranking of the most popular destinations for winter holidays. With this time a higher cost, around 700 euros round trip. “The prices for going to Guadeloupe, Martinique or Reunion could still increase, warns Guillaume Rostand. A lot of people who have family there decide to take advantage of the holidays to go there, which has an effect on the prices.” Despite this, some great deals are still available for these destinations, especially at the start or end of school holidays.

Do you want to take advantage of the winter holidays to perfect your Spanish while basking in the pill? The 6th most popular destination for winter vacations, Cancun, can be a good choice. You can combine idleness and discovery of the Mayan world, provided you leave your deckchair on the famous white sand beaches of the Mexican city! On the price side, the travel comparator lists round-trip tickets around 600 euros, or 27% less than in 2020.

It’s a little more than to go to the east coast of the United States, to Miami, where the cost of return flights is around 480 euros on average, according to Liligo. Capital however noticed some even more interesting tickets at less than 300 euros, from February 14. Holidaymakers in zones A and C therefore only have to decide whether to take off in the sun, at a lower cost. The city also occupies the 9th place of the most popular destinations this winter.

For lovers of the great cold, you will inevitably find what you are looking for in Montreal, which occupies 10th place in the ranking. Wrapped in a thick layer of snow, the largest city in Quebec offers sublime landscapes at this time. Count on average 357 euros for the round trip for the winter holidays, a price down 16% compared to 2020. Once again, more attractive prices remain available for the winter holidays, such as a round trip return to just 246 euros from Paris on February 5, for a return on the 12th. This is the perfect opportunity to enjoy one of the many ice rinks in the city or to taste the Canadian dish par excellence, poutine !
