Emirates is recruiting and has just had a meeting session in Paris with its future candidates. We took the opportunity to ask Rania Kamel, in charge of recruitment, to give us the profile of the candidates sought and the offer offered by the company.

Rania bonjouWhat are the cabin crew / cabin crew requirements for Emirates?

To support the easing of travel restrictions globally and the resumption of operations, Emirates has launched an international recruitment campaign at the end of 2021. Our recruitment needs are in the thousands of personnel: pilots, members of crew, engineering specialists or even ground staff. France is one of our priority markets.

We are looking for candidates wishing to pursue a career in a large international company to provide unparalleled service to customers, or who have prior experience. Qualities such as a sense of hospitality, observation and the ability to be useful at the right time are very important for soaking up the Emirates spirit. For us, being part of a crew is much more than a service role, and safety on board is our priority. Our candidates will have to be able to keep their cool and master both the service on board and the safety procedures.

Which devices/destinations?

We have safely resumed operations to over 130 destinations across six continents via our Dubai hub. Our flights are operated by a modern fleet of Boeing 777-300ERs and Airbus A380s on certain routes, including Paris for example. Our crew always includes at least one French or French-speaking cabin crew on all our flights in France. In general, all our staff travel on the entire Emirates network worldwide.

Absolutely. Working in such cultural diversity is a particularly enriching experience. What is the recruitment program?

Our recruitment program is now 100% digital. We first ask candidates to fill out a first form, then to take a test in English and to take an interview by videoconference if the test is conclusive. A new selection will then be made and the candidates will complete the process. At the last stage, those who have been selected will undergo a second physical interview with our teams. What are the recruitment criteria?

You are a perfect candidate for this position if you meet the following criteria:

  • More than one year of experience in the hotel and catering industry or customer reception;
  • With a positive mindset and able to offer an excellent level of service in a team, in connection with people from different cultures
  • Bachelor degree ;
  • Bilingual in oral and written English (proficiency in another language is a plus);
  • Be at least 1.60m tall and able to reach 2.12m while standing on tiptoes, to access safety equipment on all our aircraft;
  • Without visible tattoos when wearing the Emirates uniform, without having to hide them with a piece of cloth or cosmetic cream;
  • Fulfill the criteria for the Emirati work visa, given that the crews are based in Dubai.

And after ? How are the cabin crew members integrated within the company?

The candidates selected in the final recruitment phase follow a training and integration process directly in Dubai, in our specialized center, the Cabin Crew Training Academy. This stay will include a seven-step training including an introductory week (8 days) to inform all our new employees, safety training so that they master the procedures, medical training (5 days), safety training ( 2 days), training dedicated to soft skills and uniform, training dedicated to premium service and reception training. Thanks to this integration process, we ensure that our personnel are fully trained and integrated into the company.

What possible career plan?

Career progression is one of the main benefits of working for Emirates. Many middle management employees joined the company as cabin crew and now work in different departments within the Emirates Group.
