Opening of the first phase of the Barceló Lanzarote Active Resort (Canary Islands), an innovative hotel for athletes, amateurs and professionals

It is a totally innovative concept, the first hotel complex in the HIP portfolio, combining sports, leisure and gastronomy on the best site of Lanzarote (Canary Islands).

Located on the seafront, the building being inaugurated has 372 completely renovated rooms, including 148 of the ‘Royal Level’ category with exclusive and personalized services.

Once completed, the hotel complex will have 808 rooms and a wide range of sports including an Olympic swimming pool, hyperbaric chambers promoting better blood oxygenation and a high-performance and professional cycling centre.

Hotel Investment Partners (HIP) and Barceló Hotel Group continue to advance in their plan to reposition hotel assets in the Canary Islands, one of their strategic destinations. The two companies today announced the opening of the first phase of the Barceló Lanzarote Active Resort, comprising the former Occidental Lanzarote Playa and Occidental Lanzarote Mar, after an investment of almost 17 million euros.

At the end of the second phase of repositioning and investment, next summer, Lanzarote will have a “ active resort intended to become a European benchmark for this type of tourism. It is also the first resort of this category in the HIP portfolio.

Located on Ancla Beach in Costa Teguise, the former Occidental Lanzarote Playa, a 4-star category, reopens after the complete renovation of its facilities and offer. It has 372 completely renovated rooms, including 148 of the ‘Royal Level’ category with exclusive and personalized services.

The common areas have been designed seeking a balance between a hotel intended for holidays and a place for active and sporting leisure. A hotel complex meeting the expectations of families, friends and couples looking for well-being, sport and a wide range of gastronomic and leisure areas.

The renovation of the reception hall, the creation of the Oasis zone, which includes a new swimming pool and the professional cycling center follow this objective. The building reopened during this first phase offers a renewed and expanded gastronomic offer including a new restaurant in the ‘Royal Level’ area and the GOA pool bar in the Oasis area. In addition, the main buffet and the pool bar have been modernized.

When completed, the Barceló Lanzarote Active Resort will have 808 rooms and a wide range of sports: Olympic swimming pool, hyperbaric chambers, gyms and physiotherapy or personal trainer services, among others. The renovation of the facilities and the offer aims to offer a complete and differentiated experience integrated into the local culture.
