Traveling by private jet without breaking the bank? Discover our tips

Traveling by private jet is a dream for many… But did you know that it was no longer necessary to be a billionaire to offer you such a trip? In recent years, it has been possible to travel by private jet without breaking the bank thanks to various tips. Annual subscription, group purchase, cojetage, and even renting a private jet on the ground to take photos… We tell you everything!

Tip n°1: rent a private jet for a short trip

If traveling by private jet has been a long-time dream and your destination is ultimately of little importance, we advise you to charter a private jet for a short trip. More and more specialized companies are offering low cost private jet rentals.

A few years ago, Air France set up a partnership with the company Wijet in order to offer accessible private jet rides. From Paris Charles-de-Gaulle airport, many European and North African destinations are available to you. The journey takes place in a small business jet that can accommodate up to four people. The rate applies per hour. So if your budget is limited, don’t count on crossing the Atlantic, especially since the aircraft have an average range of 3000 kilometres… Count 2400 euros on average per hour of flight, or 600 euros per person for a Paris-Nice.

Tip n°2: buy a private jet subscription

You want to be able to travel by private jet regularly ? Companies such as Jet Smarter and Surf Air offer monthly subscriptions costing 200 to 2500 euros on average and allowing you to afford one or more private jet trips per year. Some formulas – the most expensive – even offer an unlimited number of journeys!

The private jet subscription represents an interesting and relatively economical solution for travelers who need a maximum flexibility and who wish to spread their expenses over time.

Tip #3: Invest in a Jet Card

The Jet Card is a prepaid card that allows you to purchase flight hours in advance. The concept is increasingly attractive, especially since anyone can contribute to your travels. An interesting concept when approaching a birthday, for example…

Traveling by private jet with a Jet Card allows you to benefit from fixed prices and premium advantages. But be careful, the accumulated money only allows you to travel during periods of low activity and in certain regions only.

Tip n°4: travel by carpooling

Do you know carpooling and plane sharing? It’s time for cojetage! Several private jet sharing platforms have recently emerged and allow travel by private jet for cheap. The goal? Connect travelers who wish to share the cost of a private jet to reach the same destination.

Thanks to carpooling, it is possible to afford a Paris-Geneva for just over €250, i.e. prices barely higher than for a flight Paris-Geneva by airliner. The cojetage platforms also offer to fully privatize the jets, but the prices climb much faster.

Tip 5: Take advantage of an empty seat in a private jet

Did you know that nearly 40% of private jets fly empty? Faced with this observation, online platforms have emerged to take advantage of these journeys. The goal? Offer vacant places to individuals, at unbeatable prices!

Imagine being able to reach the Côte d’Azur by private jet for less than €250… A dream now accessible! On the other hand, like all empty journeys, it will be impossible for you to choose the date and time of the flight, since these are fixed according to the needs and availability of the owner of the private jet.

But if it’s the experience itself that interests you more than the destination, then travel empty on a private jet represents an excellent deal and a good way to realize your dream without breaking the bank!

Tip n°6: Buy a private jet with several people

That’s a fact, buy a private jet expensive, extremely expensive. At the average price of five million euros for an aircraft that can accommodate 5 to 6 passengers, it will also be necessary to add the cost of fuel, parking space, airport / aerodrome taxes, insurance, etc.

But if you want to fly regularly in a private jet by choosing the route and the date and time of the trip yourself, a slightly more economical solution – but far from being accessible to everyone! – exist.

In recent years, it has in fact been possible tobuy a private jet together. If you buy 10% of a private jet, for example, you will only have to pay 10% of its price and you can use it for around 30 days a year. Maintenance and usage costs are also divided by ten. Not only is this solution financially advantageous, but it also allows you to travel by private jet more regularly. On the other hand, you have to have a very generous budget!

Tip #7: Hire a Private Ground Jet

If your dream is not specifically to fly in a private jet but to discover what such a device looks like and amaze your friends by taking pictures, then know that several French companies offer influencers charter a private jet on the ground for about two hours, against the modest sum of 200 €. At this price, you can take as many photos as you want, and even enjoy a glass of champagne!

This formula is hugely successful in the United States and Russia but, let it be said, it is not really aimed at travel enthusiasts.
