In Val au Cesne (between Yvetot and Saint-Martin-de-L’If) we already knew the homonymous and famous inn of Jérôme Carel. It will now be necessary to count with the equestrian center of Céline Boulant dedicated to tourism on horseback. Saturday May 7, 2022, Yvetot Normandie Tourisme programmed one of its nature activities there. Meet.
She did not expect to find her paradise a few minutes from her village of Touffreville-la-Corbeline. And yet, it only took him a few kilometers of road through woods and fields to know that it would be here, in Saint-Martin-de-L’If that his professional project, nourished by long years of reflection, was going to take root.
Céline Boulant (38) got into equestrian tourism out of passion. A nurse for ten years at the Fécamp hospital and a long-time horseman, she settled in 2018 in a property of about fifteen hectares of meadows and woods where everything had to be done to install her stable. du Val au Cesne, overlooking the listed natural site. “The idea from the start was to develop equestrian tourism. I have done a lot of horseback riding myself and when the announcement of this site appeared where the previous owner already had horses and where I had already come on horseback, I took the plunge”.

Specific training for the support of equestrian tourism, course of business creation with a status of full-time farmer for the reception of owners’ horses in full board then work to install his stable (and the family house by the way ), Céline Boulant is ready to really launch the activities of the Écurie du Val at Cesne in 2020. Horses for hiking are purchased but the health situation freezes, for a time, the development of equestrian tourism.
A bubble in the forest
Not enough to dampen his enthusiasm. The ten horses accommodated in pension make it possible to bring in some income and to wait a little longer. During the beautiful 2021 season, the Écurie du Val au Cesne nevertheless recorded its first visitors on horseback.
The horseback riding program ranges from half-hour baptisms to confirmed rides of up to 2.5 hours on the sector’s forest and country paths. And there is no lack of it. “For the moment, with word of mouth only, I have mainly had residential tourists who are therefore from the region. I haven’t yet really had people come to spend their holidays in the Pays de Caux unrelated to the region” she admits.
To make herself better known and attract traveling tourists on horseback, Céline Boulant should have an unusual accommodation installed before the summer of 2022: a transparent bubble placed in the heart of the forest.
